Thank you so much for your interest in Burns Science and Technology Charter School.  Our school has grown rapidly in recent years, and we frequently have a waiting list for all grades.  When applications exceed the number of seats available for any given grade, to ensure an impartial admissions process, Burns Sci-Tech utilizes Lotterease, a software system that specializes in the student selection process for charter schools.

In accordance with our Charter, Burns Sci-Tech gives preference to students as follows:
 

1. First, students with a parent who is a full-time member of the Burns Sci-Tech administration, faculty, staff, or school board,

2. Second, students with a sibling* that currently attends Burns Sci-Tech, and

3. Third, students who reside in Oak Hill, Florida or have a parent who serves on active duty in the U.S. military.

All lottery preferences will be thoroughly verified. Any inaccurate information will result in removal from the lottery.

*A sibling refers to a child who shares at least one biological parent, legal guardian, or household with another child already enrolled in the school at least 50% of the time. This definition includes:

1. Biological Siblings: Children who share one or both biological parents.
2. Adoptive Siblings: Children who have been legally adopted by the same parent or parents.
3. Step-Siblings: Children who become siblings as a result of their parents' marriage or partnership.
4. Half-Siblings: Children who share one biological parent.
5. Foster Siblings: Children who are placed in the same foster family.

Be sure to provide a current email address with your application as families will receive updated communications about their child’s acceptance or current position on the waiting list via the email provided during the application process.  If a space becomes available after the lottery is concluded, students are admitted from the waiting list created by Lotterease.  

If your student is admitted to Burns Sci-Tech for the upcoming school year, you must verify your intent to send your child to Burns Sci-Tech within three days.  If you do not respond or have made other educational plans for your child, the next child on the waitlist will be accepted.
