Our Burns students continue to shine in the world of science, showcasing their brilliance, dedication, and innovative thinking at this year's regional science fair. We are thrilled to announce that several of our students have earned top honors and will be advancing to the State Science Fair -- with two moving on to the prestigious International Science Fair in Columbus, Ohio!
State Science Fair Qualifiers
These outstanding students have demonstrated exceptional talent in their respective categories:
Evan A. Seventh Grade - 1st place in Biomedical and Health Sciences, Junior Division. "Does Cooking Deplete Vitamin C levels?"
Garrett E. Tenth Grade - 2nd place in Engineering, Senior Division. "Turbo Plumbing"
Abigail A. & Amanda K. Eleventh Grade - 1st place in Cellular/Molecular Biochemistry, Senior Division. "Comparing the Success Rate of Different Anhydrobiotic Proteins Originating from R. Varienornatus in E. Coli BL21 Using Bacterial Transformation."
International Science Fair Bound!
A huge congratulations to Abigail A. and Amanda K., who have qualified for the International Science Fair in Columbus, Ohio! Their project was "Comparing the Success Rate of Different Anhydrobiotic Proteins Originating from R. Varienornatus in E. Coli BL21 Using Bacterial Transformation." Their hard work and innovative research have earned them a place among the brightest young scientists in the world.
Special Awards & Recognitions
In addition to these incredible placements, these students were also honored with prestigious special awards:
Abigail & Amanda - Special Award from the Society for InVitro Biology. Their research will be featured in the Societies Science magazine, which will be an extraordinary recognition of their work.
Evan - Received three special awards for his outstanding project: $200 from the Heart of Volusia, $200 from the Volusia County Medical Society, and $100 from the Stetson University Public Health Department
These achievements reflect the passion, dedication, and hard work of our students, as well as the incredible support from their teachers, mentors, and families.
