This past Friday, our Entrepreneur Program encouraged 115 students from grades 9 through 12 to participate in a series of mock interviews, designed to give them invaluable, real-world experience. Thanks to our amazing Entrepreneur teachers, Mrs. Weis and Mrs. Robinson, and a group of 35 incredible business professionals from multiple industries, this event was an unforgettable learning experience for our students.
The mock interviews spanned a wide range of industries, including hairdressing, banking, mechanics, insurance, and more. The variety of fields represented gave students a unique opportunity to practice their interview skills with professionals who bring real industry knowledge and expertise. From Lineman College to local business owners, the interviewers came from many walks of life, offering a broad spectrum of perspectives and feedback.
Our students arrived prepared for success—dressed in business attire, armed with polished resumes, and ready to put their best foot forward. As they engaged with the interviewers, they were not only able to practice how to answer common interview questions but also gain insight into what employers look for in a candidate. The feedback they received was both constructive and encouraging, offering valuable tips for improvement while also recognizing their strengths. Some students even walked away from the experience with potential job opportunities, which speaks to the level of professionalism they displayed and the impact of the mock interviews.
We are incredibly grateful to the business professionals who volunteered their time to participate in this event. Without their support, this opportunity wouldn't have been possible. Their involvement was instrumental in bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world application. By engaging with our students directly, these professionals helped to further instill a sense of professionalism, communication, and preparation in our future entrepreneurs.
Looking ahead, we’re excited about what’s next for the program. This event is just one of many initiatives designed to support the growth and development of our students. Plans are already in the works for a job fair to be held before summer break, giving students another chance to connect with potential employers and learn about a variety of career paths. In addition, we are working on launching a job shadowing program in the new year, which will give students an even deeper look into different industries by observing professionals in action. If you or a business you know would be interested in participating in any of these future events please email Mrs. Weis and Mrs. Robinson at WeisA@burnsscitech.org or RobinsonK@burnscitech.org
The success of the mock interviews is a testament to the power of collaboration between our educators, students, and business partners. We are proud of our students' dedication and the enthusiasm shown by our business community in supporting their growth. With so many great things ahead, we can’t wait to see where these experiences take our students next.
Thank you again to all of the business professionals who took the time to participate. Your commitment to shaping the next generation of leaders is truly appreciated.
Let’s continue to support our students on their journey to success! Fly, Eagles, fly!
