This week, our second-grade students soared to new heights in both their learning and their leadership! After a week of exploring the fascinating world of bats, combined with lessons on persuasive writing, six of our young scholars had the exciting opportunity to present their ideas to the school board during Tuesday’s meeting.

Their goal was ambitious: to persuade the board to consider placing bat houses on our campus and to explain the many benefits these structures could provide. Armed with well-thought-out arguments, detailed research, and a healthy dose of enthusiasm, each student delivered their letters with confidence, creativity, and poise. Their presentations were so compelling that they left the board members both impressed and intrigued by the idea.

We’re excited to share that Mrs. Aylwin is now diving deeper into the concept, helping research the feasibility of adding bat houses to our campus. This wouldn’t just be a win for our local bat population, but it could also serve as an incredible opportunity for hands-on environmental education for all our students.

We are immensely proud of these second graders for their hard work, passion, and ability to advocate for something they believe in. It’s inspiring to see our students taking ownership of their learning and stepping into leadership roles, even at such a young age. Their efforts remind us that with the right guidance and opportunities, our students can truly make a difference.

Stay tuned as we explore this exciting idea further and celebrate the positive changes sparked by our future leaders!
